Common Parasites Found at Home

Your home needs to be a sanctuary. It is somewhere that you should feel the most comfortable in. It’s where you sleep in a comfy bed and eat delicious food. But even sanctuaries can be tainted by some household parasites. These pests can be extremely annoying and detrimental to one’s home. Often they are not easy to get rid of and it takes a systematic site inspection to thoroughly find and get rid of them.

There are a lot of household pests that can be wriggling around your home. In this article, we detail some of the most common Parasites that you can find!

Ants

Insects will be the primary pests that will be talked about in this article. Ants are the foremost of them all. You can find these little things almost everywhere there is a semblance of food scraps. You’ll find them just outside of your home or in worst cases, somewhere within your home.

Ants love damp and well-hidden places, they prefer to settle their colony in places like these. When you have an ant colony somewhere in your home, be wary of long lines of ants that can be seen in the weirdest places. Common places to find them would be somewhere in your kitchen, particularly near most of your fruits, sweets, and sugar.

Bear in mind that there are many species of ants. In the Philippines, black ants are the most common, but there’s a chance of red ants to be there as well. These are larger and more aggressive ants that have a hurtful bite to them.

Use things such as caulk or petroleum jelly to keep them from getting in through small cracks. You can also place your food in a place that is surrounded by water. Ants won’t even try to cross water!

Rats

Everyone hates rats. Especially if they’re as annoying and malicious as any other ones that you find scurrying around. These parasitic pests can grow to a foot long and can become incredibly aggressive while looking for food. They become more hostile and would run across the room if it were found out.

Often a problem with rats will also bring with it a stink so distinct that will signify a rat has taken refuge in a certain part of your home. Rats make their nests in the hard to reach places. This can be your attic, a neglected corner of the room, deep in a storage room, or holes in the walls. They will focus on finding food scraps, specifically meat.

Rats are also known as carriers of bad diseases. You should do your best to not interact or touch with them as much as possible.

Seal up holes both inside and outside of your home. Be more hygienic in your garbage disposal and storage areas, and store food properly. That way, you reduce the risks of rats nesting within your home. When all else fails, you could also use pesticides or just call for pest control and leave it to them!

Mosquitos

These tiny flying insects are the bane in tropical countries. They are famous for carrying deadly diseases such as Dengue fever. It’s a blood-sucking insect that people will not notice even when they have already been bitten.

Mosquitos typically nest in stagnant water. They’re found near places with these such as lakes, swamps, ponds, and marshes. In residential areas, mosquitos can be found near trash bins, sewers, and trash—particularly stagnant water that has been left within these areas.

To keep them at bay, all you have to do is prevent them from entering your home. Install screens and keep your windows closed at all times. Wear clothes that would cover most of your body like long-sleeved shirts. You could also prevent them from nesting by removing any kind of stagnant water within your home. Get rid of puddles and built up water near your home. Without still water, for the mosquito to lay eggs in, it will be a lot harder for mosquitos to appear near your home!

If you still have these parasites wandering your home even after all this, you should place fans near the openings of your home because mosquitos are weak fliers. Having these fans turned on will push away any mosquitos trying to enter your home!

Key Takeaway

There are so many pests and insects that can be considered as parasitic by people. The top three most common among them are ants, rats, and mosquitos. With a large site inspection, these will be easily spotted along with other potential pests around. Once the problem is confirmed, you can then focus on applying countermeasures against them! By doing so, you will keep your home safe and hygienic for your family.

Always remember to look for signs of these Parasites and be ready to do all that it takes to keep them at bay!
